Google Marketing Live 2024: The Important Stuff for Brands

Last week's Google event was all around AI, as expected.

To save you time, here's everything DTC-related you need to know:

🎨 More Brand Presence in Search Results:

According to the company, more than 40% of shopping queries on Search mention a brand or retailer.

That's why they have decided to include a visual brand profile in the search results.

With the information brands have provided Google through the Merchant Center.

Similar to what Google already does with local businesses on Search and Maps, brands' profiles will spotlight:

➝ Engaging products

➝ Brand imagery

➝ Videos

➝ Customer reviews

🌁 New Product Studio Features:

Product Studio was introduced last year, helping advertisers create AI-powered content.

This new feature helps brands generate new product images that match their unique brand style.

All they need to do is:

➝ Upload an image that represents their aesthetic

➝ Add a prompt describing the scene

And Product Studio will generate campaign-ready content.



With this tool, brands can also generate videos from an image.


πŸ›οΈο»ΏΒ New Shopping Ad Formats:

Google introduced 3 new ad formats, using generative AI.

This will be initially available for retailers as a closed beta later this year.

Advertisers will be able to connect their brands' short-form product videos - or videos from creators -to their ads.

These will be visible for shoppers on Search.

Google will also show AI summaries below the video highlights so shoppers can see key details about a product before they decide to buy.

3 Underrated Shopify Apps

Shopify has created and promoted an amazing app ecosystem.

The problem is, it's easy to get lost in the immense variety of options available.

...and it's tough to find apps that are actually worth it.

Here are the ones that we use at my agency, BSR Digital.

Shopify is great. However, some key reports are either confusing or nonexistent.

For example, it's not easy to know:

➝ Which products are frequently bought together

➝ The time between orders

➝ The products/product types that are bought across orders (ie. those who bought pants in the 1st order, bought tops in the 2nd)

This app allows you to know this and more relevant info for your brand.


Understanding, through their post-purchcase surveys:

➝ What your customers want

➝ How they found your brand

➝ And why they decided to buy

Among other interesting things, is KEY for brands these days.

Zipify OneClickUpsell:

One thing brands should be doing these days is increasing their AOV.

This app makes it easy for them to offer pre and post-purchase upsells, generating 10-15% in additional revenue.
