๐ One Thing You Should Control ASAP
๐ Meta Audits Are a Waste of Time
๐ The Power of Storytelling in Business
Every week, I talk to 7, 8, and 9-figure DTC brands, and the challenges listed below come up again and again.
Iโm building a new strategic resource to help solve them, and your input will shape what goes into it.
This is built for you, so Iโd love your quick vote below. Thanks in advance!
What's your main challenge currently? |
Meta Audits Are a Waste of Time
Someone had to say it.
Look, I started offering Meta ads in 2013 at my agency.
And up until a few years ago, when we audited Meta ad accounts, we could see some wild things...
โ Overlapping audiences
โ Lack of proper tracking
โ Non-conversion campaign types to get purchases
โ Audience names that didn't match their actual definitions
Our audit findings were many pages long, NK!
But these days?
Assuming we're talking about 7-figure+ brands that have been running ads for a while...
How much can you REALLY change within the ad account, besides ad creatives?
These brands probably:
โ Use a similar ad campaign structure
โ Have hired multiple agencies
โ And use broad audiences
A simple Meta ads audit won't cut it. ๏ปฟ๏ปฟ
What can growth marketers and agencies do instead?
Focus on the levers that move the needle for brands:
#1. Understand who their customers are
โ Who are they? (not just 20-35yo women)
โ Why are they buying?
โ What do they want to see next?
#2. Understand their buying behavior
โ Analyze what they buy in each order (with tools like Lifetimely)
โ The time between orders
โ Why do they subscribe
โ Why do they churn
#3. Improve
Use the above info to align their buying behavior with your:
โ Ads (see? I didn't forget about them)
โ Offer
โ Email/SMS flows
โ Product development
โ Website & landing pages
โ And everything else in your marketing.
Do you think I'm wrong?
I'd love to read your thoughts (reply to this email).
Btw, to show you I put my actions where my mouth is, we stopped doing ad audits at BSR Digital.
Instead, we do a Journey Overlay Analysis.
Where we make sure:
โ Your ad and email strategies
โ Are aligned with your business strategies
Why?
Because that misalignment between those two is costing your brand money than you think.

One Thing You Should Control ASAP
Q2 just ended, and I know it's been tough for many brands.
Some people in the space have even reported that the Shopify ecosystem is shrinking. ๏ปฟ๏ปฟ
While everyone blames external factors (tariffs, Meta ads getting more expensive), there's one thing you CAN control:
Your planning.
Most brands set their annual goals in December or January.
But hereโs the problem: annual goals are too far in the future to ensure you're consistently on track.
What works instead for us and the brands we work with?
90-day roadmaps.
At BSR Digital, we've seen this approach drive real results.
Hereโs what a 90-day roadmap includes:
โ
Clear goals for the next 90 days
โ
Monthly milestones to track partial progress
โ
High-level tasks to make those goals happen
Sounds simple? It is, but only if done right.
Common mistakes brands & agencies make:
๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ด๐๐ฒ ๐ด๐ผ๐ฎ๐น๐ โ If your goals arenโt clear, they'll be impossible to achieve. This leads to frustration, wasted time, and lost revenue.
๐ซ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ธ๐ โ Focus on the highest-leverage actions that actually move the needle.
๐ซ ๐ง๐ผ๐ผ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ด๐ผ๐ฎ๐น๐ โ Less is more. We've found the sweet spot is 1-3 goals and 3-5 tasks per goal.
Whatโs next?
Now that you have a roadmap, here's the most important part:
๐ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป โ Break high-level tasks into actionable steps.
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ โ Review weekly, and adjust as needed in monthly check-ins.
Q3 is here. Will you make the most out of it?
